What is a neck lift?
A neck lift tightens loose skin and the neck muscle under the jaw and chin, and can remove fat there. Most people have it with a facelift. Bruising lasts at least 2 weeks and the final result takes months. Results vary, and your surgeon will tell you what is realistic for you.

Frequently asked questions
How much does a neck lift cost in Turkey?
Standalone neck lift packages listed on &NewMe range from €2,000 to €3,380. With a facelift, packages start from €4,900. You get a written quote before you pay anything. Neck lift cost guide
Can I have a neck lift without a facelift?
Yes, if your cheeks and jawline are in good shape. When the jowls have dropped too, a face and neck lift together usually looks more balanced - your surgeon will advise from your photos.
Is neck liposuction enough?
Sometimes. If the skin is firm and the problem is fat under the chin, liposuction alone may work. It cannot tighten loose skin or neck bands.
Will the scars show?
The scars sit under the chin and around or behind the ears. They fade over about a year but do not disappear completely; hair can cover the ones behind the ears.
How long should I stay in Istanbul?
Plan about 7 to 10 days. The NHS advises not flying for 7 to 10 days after facial cosmetic surgery, and your surgeon will want to check you before you travel.
When will I see the result?
Gradually. Bruising usually lasts at least 2 weeks; the final result shows after about 6 to 9 months.
Is a neck lift painful?
Most people describe tightness and soreness rather than sharp pain, managed with painkillers for a few days.

Neck lift: what to expect
Short answers to the questions we hear most. Your surgeon will advise on your own case.
What is a neck lift?
A neck lift is a cosmetic operation that tightens loose skin and the thin neck muscle (platysma) under the jaw and chin, and can remove fat there. It can soften a "turkey neck", vertical neck bands and a blurred jawline. It does not stop ageing, and results cannot be guaranteed - your surgeon will tell you what is realistic for your neck.

Who is a neck lift for?
- Loose or hanging skin under the chin and on the neck, or visible vertical neck bands
- Fat under the chin that diet and exercise have not shifted
- Non-smokers in good general health, at a stable weight, with realistic expectations
If the skin is still firm and the problem is mainly fat, neck liposuction alone may be enough (listed from €950 - see liposuction). If the jowls and cheeks have dropped too, a combined face and neck lift usually gives a more balanced result. Send photos of your neck from the front and side with your quote request.

Types of neck lift
- Platysmaplasty - tightens the neck muscle, usually through a small cut under the chin; it treats neck bands.
- Cervicoplasty - removes and re-drapes loose skin through cuts around and behind the ears.
- Deep neck lift - some surgeons also reshape deeper structures under the chin; ask what yours includes and why.
- Neck liposuction - fat removal only, for firm skin.
Most neck lifts combine skin and muscle work. The name matters less than what is done: your written plan should list it.

A neck lift on its own, or with a facelift?
A neck lift on its own suits people whose cheeks and jawline are still in good shape. When the jowls and lower face have dropped too, surgeons usually recommend a facelift with a neck lift - the incisions are shared and the result looks more even. 7 of the 8 neck lifts &NewMe patients have booked were done with a facelift. Combined with facelift: packages and prices
Most people who ask us about a neck lift have it with a facelift - the neck and the lower face age together, and lifting one without the other can look unbalanced. On &NewMe the usual package is a facelift + neck lift: 9 surgeons list it from €4,900 to €7,200 (facelift cost guide). A standalone neck lift is listed from €2,000.
Bigger combined packages quoted to our team:
- Face and neck lift + upper and lower eyelid surgery - İstanbul Cerrahi Hospital (hospital package - the surgeon is named in your quote): €5,440 (hospital price list, April 2026).
- Revision facelift + neck lift + temporal lift + upper and lower eyelid surgery, all-inclusive (2 nights in hospital, interpreter, follow-up; hotel not included) - Dr. Beşir Öner, at İstanbul Cerrahi Hospital: US$14,790 (quoted 23 September 2026, valid to 31 December 2026).
- Deep plane facelift + deep neck lift (platysmaplasty) + endoscopic forehead and brow lift (his minimum facelift package) - Dr. Mehmet Cömert: €18,700 (quoted 23 September 2026).
- Deep plane facelift + neck lift + upper and lower eyelid surgery; brow lift and fat grafting included - Dr. Metin Kerem: from €21,250 (quoted 24 September 2026, starting price).
These are combined packages quoted on the dates shown, some for a specific patient. They are not the price of a neck lift on its own, prices change, and what is included differs - your written quote confirms the operations, the hospital, the nights and the price.
Adding eyelid surgery
Upper and lower eyelid surgery is often added to a face and neck lift in the same operation. It lengthens the operation and adds eye-specific aftercare (eye drops, no contact lenses for a while, possible dry eyes). Read about it first: Eyelid surgery in Turkey.
The operation and hospital stay
- Anaesthesia: usually general anaesthesia, sometimes local anaesthesia with sedation.
- Length: often 2 to 3 hours on its own; longer with a facelift or eyelid surgery.
- Hospital stay: usually 1 to 2 nights - each package on &NewMe shows the nights in hospital. A thin drain and a supportive dressing or garment are common for the first days.
Sources: NHS - Facelift; ASPS - Neck lift procedure.
Where are the scars?
Usually a short scar under the chin and scars around and behind the ears, along the hairline. They are red and raised at first and usually fade over about a year, but they do not disappear completely; hair can cover the ones behind the ears. Smoking and sun slow healing.
Sources: NHS - Facelift; ASPS - Neck lift recovery.
Recovery: swelling and bruising timeline
- First days: tightness, swelling and bruising of the neck and jaw; rest with your head raised.
- About 1 to 2 weeks: stitches out (unless dissolvable); bruising is usually visible for at least 2 weeks.
- About 2 weeks: back to desk work for many people; 2 to 4 weeks with a facelift.
- Several weeks: no strenuous exercise, saunas or massage for at least 2 weeks - longer if your surgeon advises.
- Weeks to months: numbness and a stiff feeling under the chin settle gradually.
- 6 to 9 months: the final result, once the swelling has gone.
Sources: NHS - Facelift; ASPS - Neck lift recovery.
When can I fly home?
The NHS recommends not flying for 7 to 10 days after facial cosmetic surgery, because air travel and surgery both raise the risk of blood clots. Plan about 7 to 10 days in Istanbul so your surgeon can check you and remove stitches before you travel - ask how many days they want before you book flights. Walk the aisle, drink water and arrange follow-up at home before you leave.

What are the risks?
Common: swelling, bruising, numbness and a tight feeling for weeks. Less common: a collection of blood under the skin (haematoma) that may need draining, infection, slow healing (higher in smokers), thick or visible scars, uneven contours or loose skin coming back, and injury to a nerve - for example the one that moves the lower lip, usually temporary. As with any operation: blood clots and reactions to the anaesthetic. Your surgeon should explain how likely these are for you.

If something isn't right after you're home
- Your coordinator stays with you through recovery - message them first with photos if something worries you.
- Remote follow-up with your surgeon is part of the process after you return home.
For rapidly increasing swelling of the neck, difficulty breathing or swallowing, chest pain, a painful swollen leg or a high temperature, get medical help at home straight away, then tell your coordinator.
How long does a neck lift last?
Results are long-lasting for many people, but the skin keeps ageing and weight changes affect the neck. A stable weight, not smoking and sun protection help. Some people choose a smaller touch-up years later.

How do I choose a neck lift surgeon?
- A specialist in plastic, reconstructive and aesthetic surgery who does face and neck lifts regularly, registered on HealthTürkiye (the Ministry of Health portal).
- A hospital licensed by the Turkish Ministry of Health and authorised for international patients.
- Before-and-after photos of necks like yours, ideally 6 months or more after surgery.
- A written quote naming the surgeon, the hospital, the operations, the nights in hospital and what happens if a touch-up is needed.
On &NewMe the Verified by &NewMe badge only appears when we have checked the hospital's licence and the surgeon's registration and specialty. How we verify
