How we verify providers

✓ Verified by &NewMe on a surgeon’s card means we found public, official records for the surgeon and the place of surgery, and saved the link to each one:

• The hospital holds the Turkish Ministry of Health’s international health tourism authorisation, or is listed on HealthTürkiye, the Ministry’s health tourism portal.
• The named surgeon’s specialty - for example general surgery for weight-loss surgery - is confirmed on an official profile: HealthTürkiye, the hospital’s own doctor page, a university profile or a medical society list.
• The link between the two, which depends on how the surgeon works (hospital surgeon or independent surgeon, see below).

Surgeons in Türkiye work in one of two ways, and we check each a little differently:

• Hospital surgeon (staff). The surgeon is employed by the hospital and our agreement is with the hospital. We check the hospital’s Ministry of Health authorisation and that the hospital lists the surgeon - on its own doctor page or on HealthTürkiye. The profile says “Hospital surgeon at …” with the hospital’s certificate number.
• Independent surgeon. The surgeon runs their own practice and operates in hospitals they choose, often two or three at different budget levels. We check the surgeon’s own registration on HealthTürkiye (an independent practice has its own health tourism certificate number), their specialty and society memberships, and each hospital they operate in. The profile says “Independent surgeon” and lists the hospitals; your written quote names the hospital for your operation.

On HealthTürkiye an independent surgeon usually appears under their own practice rather than a hospital. That is expected, not an error.

• Ministry of Health authorisation for international patients, in the Ministry of Health, Health Tourism Department: authorised facilities records or on the hospital’s own certificate page.
• HealthTürkiye listing in the HealthTürkiye health facilities list.
• Accreditation, when the hospital has it: JCI (JCI: find accredited international organizations) and TÜSKA, Türkiye’s health care accreditation institute. JCI is voluntary: a hospital without it can still be verified.

We record the certificate number where it is published, the link and the date we checked.

• Specialty and title on an official profile (hospital, university or medical society). A surgeon’s own website or social media alone is not enough for the badge.
• Where they practise: the hospital profile that lists them.
• Society memberships only where the society publishes a list we can link to. The HealthTürkiye health professionals directory is checked too.

If a record cannot be found or the page does not load, we leave the check out and the badge waits until we can confirm it.

Some providers on &NewMe are agencies or clinics that arrange your treatment. For them we will check the international health tourism authorisation certificate in the HealthTürkiye agency list and the travel agency licence in the TÜRSAB agency search. These checks are not shown as badges yet.

We are starting with weight-loss (gastric sleeve) surgeons and will add other treatments step by step. No badge on a card does not mean a provider failed a check - it may simply not have been reviewed yet.

We check at listing and when details change, for example when a surgeon moves hospital. Every badge shows the date of the last check (“Last checked”), so you can see how recent it is.

The default order is the &NewMe ranking, a score built from these main parameters:

• relevance and verified expertise for the treatment
• recent activity
• patient reviews (volume and rating)
• verification and completeness of information
• hospital accreditation
• how actively the provider works with &NewMe (bookings and an up-to-date agreement or price list)
• experience with patients from your country

Providers with incomplete or unverified information are shown after those with complete, verified information. &NewMe may manually adjust order in limited cases; commission rates do not affect ranking; paid placements are labelled Sponsored. Read the full rules in how we rank providers.
